New Project

FINAL YEAR PROJECT

TITLE : URBAN ARCHITECTURE

INTRODUCTION
The artist wishes to express his concern regarding urban planning in architecture. Many in the society nowadays do not value the existence of urban planning. They do not know the benefit that urban planning has brought to a country or city. The artist wishes to promote urban planning by using technology. Technology such as smartphones and tablets.

ABSTRACT
This project promotes the existence of urban planning in architecture. The project uses android as its main software. By using android several users may use it as they please and try out. This will help increase the awareness of the objective of this project.

METHOD
Augmented Reality

EXAMPLES

Augmented Reality By HITLAB

Live Augmented Reality By National Geographic

As viewed above, augmented reality is still new to the society. By using this method, the artist wishes to attract more people and make the awareness known to public. Viewers will not only learn more about urban planning and architecture, they will also have fun learning. As they enjoy interacting with the application, they will remember what they had seen.

Urban Planning In Architecture

Buildings
Cities and towns are home to many different types of housing
Small houses to high-rise apartments
Housing Component of urban plan determines what type of house is presented in the community and what it may need in the future
Categorize - Addresses the housing needs of people which have disabilities, low-income families and other specific needs

Landscape Environment
Land is being used for residential or industrial
Plans which area is suitable for future development, needs to be conserved
Helps the community establish zoning codes
Land use regulations to guide future development

Urban planning and design
Context - Seeing that buildings, places and spaces are part of the whole town or city
Character - Reflecting and enhancing the distinctive character, heritage and identity of our urban environment
Choice - Ensuring diversity and choice for people
Connections - Enhancing how different networks link together for people
Custodianship - Ensuring design is environmentally sustainable, safe and healthy

Urban Planning Issues
- Better planning of land use
- Increasing biodiversity and green space
- Reducing environmental risks

Integrate Urban Planning In Environment

Economic Benefits
- Agglomeration Effects
Double employment density of an urban area

- Lower Infrastructure Costs
Streets, railway, water and sewage systems

- Create Green Jobs

Social and Environmental Benefits
- Enhance Community Cohesion

- Promote Social Equity
Improve living quality of poor people

- Improve Public Health

- Increase Road Safety

- Guarantee Food Security

Urban Design Process

1. Incorporate Sustainable Design
- Scope of relevant variables affecting decisions about the built environment
- A clear framework of Informed decision making
- Regional and National concern (climate change and natural resourses)

2. Sensitive Infill
- Full usage of urban structure
- Respond to regional policies (populations nearer to employment + transportation centers)
- Social equity (convenient access to jobs + reducing reliance on automobile)

3. Design Review
- Community Benefits
-Developer Benefits
4. Views and Vantage Points

5.Street Edge Definition
- Public
- Semi-private street edge
- Private Spaces

6. Public Spaces And Parks

Proposal

Proposal 1

Research Topic
New Urbanism in Architecture

Background
Urban planning has been around since centuries ago. The meaning of urban planning in simple words means improvement. Urban plan has been improved in every stage of generation. Urban planning is also the technical process with the control use of land and design of the urban environment. These urban environment include transportation, networks, building and surroundings. The urban plan itself is a research and analysis workload.

Problem Identification
People do realize the benefit of urban planning in architecture. They do not care about urban planning.

Aim and Objectives
To show viewers the changing of building architecture from past to future.
To acknowledge the benefit of New Urban Planning in Modern Day architecture

Motivation
Most people design their houses based on inspiration. All these inspirations are part of new urbanism. The society are not aware of "What is urban planning".

Ideation and Concept
Using a 21" Touch Screen LCD by creating interactions.
User only have to touch or swipe, application will respond to user.
Application creates a timeline to show revolution of urban planning in housing architecture
Content : Information, Graphic, animation
Interactions : Touch, Tap, Swipe

Research Topic
Environment Pollution

Background
Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution. The Blacksmith Institute issues an annual list of the world's worst polluted places. In the 2007 issues the ten top nominees are located in Azerbaijan, China, India, Peru, Russia, Ukraine and Zambia

Problem Identification
Society is aware of problem but not reacting to solve.
Increasing rate of urbanization along with increase in population in the urban areas adds an additional impetus to the above problems.
Society is Education but not conscious about the environment.

Aim and Objectives
To educate the society about the consequences if problem continues.
To awaken and sensitize people about their being the best creation on earth and to lead a life worthy of humans.
To educate and motivate people against environmental pollution

Motivation
I am motivated to save the environment. Now is the eco-green trend. Every human being has its own part in saving the earth and environment. I am highly motivated to create an awareness to remind the society of the pollution that is getting worst and its consequences along the way, in hope that everyone will start realizing and change the world.

Ideation and Concept
Using 21' LCD TOUCH SCREEN
Create a virtual planet "EARTH ".
Options with values are for user to choose.
Each values affect the earth's atmosphere and condition

Interaction : Touch, Tap, Swipe

Research Topic
Waste Management

Background
Recycling is processing used materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to virgin production. Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" waste hierarchy.
There are some ISO standards relating to recycling such as ISO 15270:2008 for plastics waste and ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management control of recycling practice.
Recyclable materials include many kinds of glass, paper, metal, plastic, textiles, and electronics. Although similar in effect, the composting or other reuse of biodegradable waste – such as food or garden waste – is not typically considered recycling.[2] Materials to be recycled are either brought to a collection center or picked up from the curbside, then sorted, cleaned, and reprocessed into new materials bound for manufacturing.

Problem  Identification
Waste on the earth is increasing massively.
Environment pollution.
Greenhouse Gasses

Aim and Objectives
To encourage the society to recycle more
To create a clean and sustainable environment
To promote a Healthy & Safety standards

Motivation
The world is coming to an end, I would like to live longer. There are natural resources which are reusable should be reused. Recycling helps promote less production from nature and more production by recycled items.

Ideation and Concept
Using 21' LCD TOUCH SCREEN
Create a game which consist of different types of waste
User will be asked to put items into the correct recycling bin.
Each correct choices earn user points.
The longer the user plays, the more items appear and faster.
